IU Southeast student Owen Harmon has made an impact on sustainability in Indiana through his summer position with Indiana University’s McKinney Climate Fellows (MCF) program.
Climate fellows gain valuable experience working full-time in a professional setting, assisting partners with sustainability and climate planning, providing benefits to the state of Indiana through critical sustainability work.
Harmon learned about the opportunity through an IU-wide email that described the organization that was forwarded to him by a professor. He applied this past winter, went through the interview process, and was accepted into the program this spring. The MCF program was his first internship/research experience. He worked full-time over the summer researching funding opportunities for rural community projects, communicating with those communities to assess their needs, and working to secure funding for them.
