On Feb. 6, more than 450 Hoosier sustainability professionals, students, entrepreneurs, community leaders, local government staff, and climate advocates from across the state gathered at the Bloomington Convention Center for a day of knowledge-sharing and networking during the 2026 Indiana Sustainability and Resilience Conference.
Hosted by Indiana University’s Environmental Resilience Institute (ERI), the conference highlighted research and actions being taken to make Indiana more sustainable as well as opportunities to help Hoosier communities address climate change and other environmental challenges.
Gina McCarthy, the first White House National Climate Advisor and a former U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Administrator, delivered a keynote address and participated in a plenary discussion on pathways toward an environmentally sustainable future. The discussion was moderated by ERI Executive Director Gabriel Filippelli and also featured ERI Senior Policy Advisor Janet McCabe and City of Lafayette Climate and Resilience Manager Halee Griffey.
Supporters of the event included the Indianapolis Airport Authority, the McKinney Family Foundation, and Cummins Inc.
