Isotopic Studies of Migration

Isotopic Studies of Migration: Adapting to Change

This project involves experimental studies of the impact of environmental change on the dynamics of resident and invasive animal and plant populations.

Measures will include fine-scale genetic divergence, differential gene expression in response to experimentally modified environments, impact of the environment on early development and trans-generational effects.

Urban ecology is another emerging research area and informs the management of urban green infrastructure. The team will determine the organisms that are disappearing from our urban environments and those that are colonizing them, presumably due to their greater ability to tolerate urban levels of disturbance, lighting and food sources.

This project is part of the Movement Ecology working group.
