Human Communities

To learn how people experience and adapt to environmental and demographic change, members of this working group study environmental history in Indiana’s towns and cities.

Using their Hoosier Social-Environmental Survey, they gather data about contemporary Hoosiers’ attitudes on environmental change, including their use of resources such as food, water and energy, and their expectations for work, social and leisure activities amid this change.
