ERI and the Great Plains Institute (GPI) are collaborating to develop an Indiana-specific renewable energy siting guide to help county governments in Indiana as they consider large-scale solar and wind installations. Materials will be finalized and made available in Fall 2020.
ERI is coordinating the project, establishing an advisory committee, assisting with content development, and collaborating with external organizations to ensure broad dissemination of the materials. GPI is developing the renewable energy siting guide, the model solar ordinance, and the county workshop materials using funding from the Energy Foundation.
Specific deliverables include:
• A siting guide for county-level decision makers focused on long-term planning for large-scale solar and wind energy system.
• A model solar ordinance tailored to Indiana and focused on solar farms and gardens.
• Materials for county workshops in Indiana on renewable energy that incorporate findings from the state siting guides and provide greater detail into a variety of potential siting considerations.
