A proposal by the EPA to exempt certain North Carolina industrial sources from Clean Air Act limits during startups, shutdowns, and malfunctions would set a dangerous precedent, a group of former agency officials say.
The Environmental Protection Network submitted comments to the agency urging that its June proposal to approve the variance not become final, Janet McCabe, who headed EPA’s air office under President Barack Obama, told Bloomberg Environment Aug. 6.
