As summer fellowships approach their conclusion, three McKinney Climate Fellows (MCF) are giving Instagram users a look at their contributions to Indiana’s sustainability the last two months.
IU Bloomington students Sydney Hargis, Hayleigh Keasling, and Daniela Castellanos created “day in the life” videos about their summer experiences with The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis, the City of Fort Wayne, and the Indiana Resilience Funding Hub, respectively. The videos are published on the IU Bloomington Instagram account.
“Currently, I’m focused on optimizing recycling practices and implementing an automated utility tracking system,” Hargis narrates in her video as images from the museum flash onscreen.
“I’m working to implement the climate action and adaptation plan for Fort Wayne and one of those specific action items is expanding emergency outreach for the city,” Keasling says in her video amidst a montage of Fort Wayne Children’s Zoo animals.
The vignettes not only give viewers a glimpse into fellows’ summer projects but also their personal endeavors. In addition to sharing shots of team meetings, Castellanos incorporated clips of the training she’s doing in preparation for the Indianapolis marathon, her first marathon, later in the year.
