To help Hoosiers be informed about environmental change, ERI supports reporting efforts in public media, independent journalism, and podcasting. These professional storytelling organizations are providing actionable information to Hoosiers and drawing attention to environmental issues in the state and around the world using multiple mediums.
Funded initiatives include:
- In This Climate, a weekly environmental news podcast featuring the scientists working toward climate solutions, the legislation to watch, and useful knowledge to become a resilient global citizen. Jointly supported by ERI and the Media School at IU, the podcast includes on-the-ground features and perspectives from leaders in climate science and environmental policy.
- Indiana Public Media reporting on environmental and energy issues in the state. With support from ERI, Rebecca Thiele is one of the rare reporters focused exclusively on environmental issues in the state. Thiele’s stories air on Indiana Public Media’s network of broadcast outlets and online, reaching approximately 1 million Hoosiers.
- Indiana Environmental Reporter, an independent reporting organization supported by ERI and the Media School at IU. With a focus on environmental stories in the state, IER journalists and producers seek to make science and environmental information useful to all Hoosiers. Articles produced by the organization are free to use by other news outlets with attribution.
