Job Summary
The Communications Specialist is a part-time role responsible for planning, implementing, and monitoring ERI’s digital media strategy to increase brand awareness and reach target audiences.
In coordination with the Communications & Outreach Manager, the Communication Specialist develops and produces basic and complex communication, marketing, and web materials by established deadlines for a variety of audiences and for distributions across print and digital platforms.
A substantial portion of the role will be supporting and enhancing communications initiatives targeting students, educators, sustainability professionals, and Indiana local governments through social media platforms, the ERI website, and other outlets. As ERI’s primary visual communicator, this position is responsible for a wide range of media products, including infographics, photos and videos, brochures, posters, annual reports, and written content.
This position is eligible for up to 29 hours during the summer and up to 15 hours during the academic year. Start date is flexible, with a preference for Spring/Summer 2025.
Required Qualifications
- Current student at Indiana University
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite
- Excellent organizational skills
- Ability to problem solve
- Ability to work as part of team and individually
- Demonstrated attention to detail
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in graphic design
- Social media management experience
- Interest in environmental change, sustainability, and related topics
Working Conditions / Physical Demands
This position is currently a hybrid position with the expectation of being in person on the IU Bloomington campus twice a week.
Salary Range
Undergraduates: $15 per hour
Graduate students: $18 per hour
