An annual leadership summit on climate change that was to bring elected officials from across the state to Evansville this summer will instead be held online.
This year's summit will be an invitation-only virtual conference on Aug. 27 and will last from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The change is a response to the COVID-19 pandemic, said Caroline Nellis, who is helping organize the Climate Leadership Summit for Earth Charter Indiana.
Nellis, an Evansville resident, is one of eight resiliency coordinators from across the state for the organization. She said the summit will return to Evansville for its 2021 event.
Past summits have included workshops by Indiana University's Environmental Resilience Institute, which works to help Indiana businesses and communities adapt to the projected changes attributed to climate change in the coming decades.
