The 2024 Indiana Sustainability and Resilience Conference (ISRC), to be held Friday, Feb. 9 at the IUPUI Campus Center, will shine a spotlight on efforts across the state to address climate change and opportunities to connect more Hoosier communities and businesses to the benefits of sustainable practices.
Hosted by Indiana University’s Environmental Resilience Institute (ERI) and presenting supporter the Indianapolis Airport Authority, the conference is open to all Hoosiers—including professionals, scholars, and community leaders—who want to learn more about climate pollution reduction initiatives in the state and strategies to protect residents and businesses from the impacts of extreme weather.
Registration is $50 for general admission and $25 for students. Space is limited; individuals are encouraged to reserve a seat well in advance of the event.
“Throw a dart on a map of Indiana, and you’ll probably land on a place where Hoosiers are working to address climate change in ways big and small,” said Bill Brown, ERI assistant director for strategy and engagement. “Thanks to new federal incentives, the projects being undertaken today are more ambitious than ever, spanning climate action planning, corporate sustainability, and climate-smart agriculture. This year’s ISRC will showcase the broad range of activities taking place in Indiana and elsewhere and connect attendees to new ideas and inspiration they can apply to their own pursuits.”
ISRC 2024 will include an expo, networking opportunities, and a keynote address from Michelle Moore, author of “Rural Renaissance” and CEO of Groundswell, a nonprofit organization focused on connecting frontline communities to the environmental and economic benefits of renewable energy.
Breakout sessions will cover a range of sustainability and resilience topics, including:
- climate pollution reduction planning
- funding for resilience implementation
- agriculture as a climate solution
- climate careers and workforce development
- decarbonizing the built environment
A full schedule, including breakout session descriptions and speakers, is available on the conference landing page.
