Preparing local governments for environmental change

Though environmental change is a global phenomenon, it’s actually felt at the local level, where communities must deal with the effects of heat, flooding, drought, and other challenges. Communities in the Midwestern US have their own climate concerns and need information and solutions that work for them. The Local Government Outreach and Education team work to connect local governments and other groups to tools and resources focusing on Indiana and the Midwest that can bolster Indiana’s resilience.

ERI’s policy and implementation work engages change agents throughout the state who can benefit from the information and resources developed through the institute. These external parties include state and local government staff and organizations that support local governments; business and industry; community organizations; environmental and health advocacy groups; and sustainability staff at other colleges and universities.
